A BLOOD TEST THAT CAN
DETECT MORE THAN 50 DIFFERENT TYPES OF CANCER
( Rev. 260201)
When most cancer cells die,
the DNA, that was inside them, circulates in the blood,
until they are absorbed and broken down by the M1-macrophages
responsible for cleaning the blood.
The Galleri Cancer Test (liquid biopsy) looks for more
than 50 different types of those cancer DNAs.
The test has a 0.5% probability of a false positive.
There is a higher probability of a false negative, probably
because the DNAs from the dead cancer cells are not evenly
distributed though out the blood. And also because that DNA
could, sometimes, be cleaned prior to the next generation cycle
of the cancer cells.
NOTE: The Galleri test is also known
as the Grail test.
However, Grail is the name of the company that does the
test.
The official "registered" name of the test is Galleri.
It is currently expensive, about $950, and
is not covered by Medicare, and probably not covered by most
private health insurances. However, they are offering a $150
discount if the doctor that request the test request a "Bill to
Patient" option. However, compared to the two liquid biopsies,
recently approved by the FDA, it is a bargain.
The FDA (Fools & Dummies Administration) has not approved
it.
They are probably waiting for some "money under the table".
Or some political contribution.
Or waiting for an OK from some powerful politician.
Or may be they have received money from insurance companies that
do not want this test approved.
In 2021, there was a bill introduced in the House of
Representative (117th Congress),
HR-1946
(See link in REFERENCE section bellow).
The bill would have allowed Medicare to pay for this and other
early detection cancer tests.
The bill was sent to the Health committee.
In the Senate, it was introduced as S-1873.
In the Senate, it was sent to the Finance Committee.
The Congress Website does NOT indicate if the bills were debated
at the committees.
Nor does it state if the bills were killed at the committees.
I am not a lawyer, so I do not know if bills are passed from one
congress term to the next
(i.e. from the 117th Congress to the 118th Congress, etc..)
So I assume that the bills were ignored, and are now dead.
NOTE: On 2024, I asked my primary care
provider for a prescription for some blood or urine tests that
can detect certain cancers. She seemed not aware of their
existence.
She referred me to an oncologist at the Miami VA Health Care
system.
But they, also, were not familiar with those tests.
So no one would give me the necessary prescription.
This month (December, 2025) I found out that the Miami VA Health
Care System is evaluating the Galleri blood test.
They had asked for volunteers. However, I was not informed of
this, prior to December.
I tried to enroll in the study now, but was told this month that
they stopped enrolling anyone else after September 30.
How strange that my primary care provider, a doctor at the
Broward VA clinic,
did not know about this, or pretended not to know, when I
consulted with her, on September 4.
I had mentioned, to her, that I was willing to pay any urine or
blood cancer tests.
Not knowing that the VA was evaluating the Galleri test, at that
time, and doing it for FREE for volunteers.
Was my VA Primary Care Provider misinformed ?
